All that glitters are not gold!

Terrible things have happened, unwanted things done and life mysteriously has made it a custom to take forth the flesh left inside. That somehow describes the gentleman who crossed his life ones but never came back. He, as pointed by many, is a unique creature who has the potential of making it big. The story of a kid who was different from the lot yet so much loved by all.

It all started as a bunch of 9 with each of them ready to break the shackles of a made up teenage hoodoo! It took time but soon they gelled up well to mix and match their comfort zone into one. Their Guru knowing it all but ignoring it with a sense of acceptance. Days went by and couple of them made the most out of it and delved up their commonness rather than dwelling on the differences. Without much of a surprise, days became months and month became a year when the two became one renouncing the first barrier of being together. The kid had found the meaning of his existence. What they had was beautiful and the 9 rejoiced the same with the bonding becoming stronger in lieu of nothing.

Every start has it’s end and so did the merry couple of years, and they all bid away with a promise to stay in touch. Young minds, what would they know of the cruelty that lay ahead? As a mere result, the strings had loosened and kicked off a new chapter for each one of them. Each one had started walking their ways and so did the two until a day came when one of them broke the chain that tied them.

The kid wasn’t ready, wasn’t prepared and took up nothing but acceptance, blaming himself as the sole creator of his fate. The going got tougher but he never questioned. He stood up and walked aimlessly in search of solace. The more he hunted the more he would dive into darkness and started repeating his mistakes. With none to look up to, it was a thorny path and he ended up losing his way into a maze that could place him at the same point whenever he would start believing that he had found a way.

A change in habitat with a new set of goals brought him to a new road. A journey that would transform him into a young man who could achieve anything that one can desire. Life became interesting and 24 hours seemingly became less. He was up for the challenge and the crowd was ready to appreciate. The world had taken a u-turn for him and he couldn’t think of anything but winning. Dreams were no more illusions but a set of alphabets that could be formed any day. He was doing it all and all by himself.

The world would envy to what he had and what he got. He himself rejoiced about this transformation. He was indeed the same kid who lost half a decade back. The world was aware of this and so was he.

But the world wasn’t aware of one little thing. He was still searching! He still didn’t have something! Something, that was so precious to him that this glory was worthless to him. Something, he had lost half a decade back! Something, he knows will never be his although their ways have started to merge. They know it now and he has a promise to keep which he is unsure of keeping! Love as they call it had taken them back once. They still lie at the same spot after so many years, yet so far. The kid still hopes for the best which he has done for most of his life. With little surprises, another Christmas passes and he calls for the same gift yet again to find solace among every gold that he possesses. With years, for he has got the true meaning, all that glitters are not gold!

Beyond Borders

Certain things make an impact on us. Certain things make all the difference. Certain people make the world a better place to live in. Certain demons destroy it all. We all have a level of conscience and that is what has helped our civilization from time immemorial to either create or destroy the unwanted. We, after all, are the most intelligent species on Earth and the sole rulers of the planet.

The other day there was an article by one of the most controversial writers of our times. It mentioned about the existence of borders. We have created differences and made ourselves unique. We definitely don't allow another inferior to intervene in our home affairs. We cannot cross a border because the land beyond that mark is not ours. And at the end of the day, it is obvious to do so because we cannot let our motherlands from being exploited by some stranger. Yes, the writer was wrong in stating that we human beings have created borders and can live in harmony.

She mentions about animals which can cross international borders without being shot by a man guarding those borders and how the consequences for another man crossing the same would be otherwise. Definitely, she was wrong because as it is already mentioned that we cannot allow some intruder to intervene in my own home affairs. Animals, after all, are a low breed being far away from challenging the intellect of man and shouldn't be considered as an example for this scenario. She is definitely wrong.

There came a post regarding a kid from Syria wounded and covered with dust and blood. Uniqueness has run across that land. Here we are full of terror that tomorrow some acquaintance will suffer the terror that haunts our civilized world. A covered face might just come up with it's own unique ideologies and put a bullet inside them. A stranger might just come strangled and defy the nature of humanity and rob away one of our sisters. The writer of this piece fears being robbed when he returns home at 10 in the night by some unknown figure. Every being is terrorized.

We are all haunted yet boast about our uniqueness. We are afraid of tomorrow and devasted about the reality yet we can't but wait for destiny to describe our fate. We are the civilization with brains to make the difference and it is a dire reality that we have made the difference. The controversial writer, was after all, wrong in all aspects because she could never understand the importance of being unique and how that simple uniqueness can make the world a better place to live in.

18 months but Why Do I Still Cry?

It has been 18 months and it is still so hard for me to believe that you are no more. You have left us all and created such a huge void in our lives. Your voice still echoes and remains to be my favourite and right now that is what I am listening to. It remains irreplaceable.

It is still unknown to why you left us in-spite of the fact that I have found countless reasons to why you committed such a sin. Not a single eye could hold itself from mourning that day. Not a single soul can hold itself either after so many months of your absence. It was a few days back when few of your close buddies met and had a little reunion. Not to our surprise that the only name which crossed our mind was yours. We just anticipated that you were happy seeing us together and I am pretty sure that you were.

It took some time to change your gentle silent smile into laughter and you gave up into our efforts. It was August of 2012. I remember very well to how you became the elder brother for us, and not just for the batch but for the entire college including seniors. I wish those happy moments could have last for decades but brought the curtains down so early and there are so many souls out there who believe that they could have saved you. Me definitely being one of them.

The journey that I can never forget made me defy all odds and more of all bring an enormous amount of respect for you, records way back to October 30th, 2014. The very day I was blessed with SAP and maybe also with a very special friend. To be honest, I have hated you for many a reason but all came to a halt after that day. I blamed you for lots of things but that journey took every bit of liability away.

It followed with late night chats when we both kept discussing life. We shared a lot and these are memories I would keep cherishing throughout my life. And it was one such night that you texted me and I was unavailable! All you could say was "Suman" and expected me to turn up. I did not have a running internet service in my cell.

The next evening I got a call with only a few words enough to stop my breath,"Dada r nei"! I couldn't believe my ears and kept dialing others. It seemed that I lost my brother. As a matter of fact, I did.

The next day, it was the first train that took me to you. You laid there with the gentle silent smile that you had on the day when we first met. You didn't speak this time no matter how hard we wept. You didn't respond to the people who loved you. You kept smiling and they took you away.

A few hours later, on my way home, I got your message. Lightening struck me and I still remember crying for the rest of the journey. I felt weak. I don't know if I could have talked you out of it but it was all but too late and I sobbed.

There are nights when I can see you smiling the same way in my thoughts and cry out of grief. Your pics, videos, songs remind me of the good old days and I keep waiting for fulfilling the promise I made to you. "There is a lot that I want to ask him and still, I can't do anything but wait. But when my time comes and God wants me with him, I will sit with him for a drop and clarify whatever I have. Till then, REST IN PEACE, Subbu.............."

Moving towards the Stone age

Newspapers are a delicacy in the morning with a nice sip of tea adding more flavour to all the articles in the queue and some people can't think of a better way to start the day. Being a member of that clan, it is the first task performed after reaching office but what led to this post was none but the emergence of thoughts and incidents that struck after following the daily routine.

Let's highlight some pointers that made some mark:
* A standard 1 kid doesn't know the name of the country in which he resides.

* Crowd doesn't have the courage to come up and intervene in a murder taking place in broad day light.

* Politicians avoiding questions on development.

* Leaders lack skills on making it's followers understand the difference between right and wrong.
and so on.

Feeling distressed as these might appear as light as it seems to many but somewhere things are really not right with this world and Humanity is the only selfless religion which is suffering as a result.

The conclusion of one article is as apt as it gets from today:"We are moving towards the stone age again, a different one, where things will be developed but Human hearts will be transformed to stones."

Fire alert of Havoc

I heard that sound. Panic was my first reaction. I felt taken aback. I jumped and rushed for the balcony. I gained my senses back seeing her. She was okay. I released a breath full of anxiety and took the stairs down. I was normal and continued with the lot.

An abrupt way to start the scenario but certain things in life are better told than explained. This little piece of article makes a slight sense to human attitude and it's behavioral nature and how a simple word "Realization" can make a difference to it's life. Life can be taken back at times with closed book incidents and one hardly recovers. Everyone faces such once in a while and it ends up describing him altogether in the first place.

In context of my life, I have no regrets in accepting that I have faced such incidents many a times and I always believe in welcoming them. No one can be same throughout their lifespan and I prefer to change than to repent over what I am.

I was in verge of giving away everything, taking a different route altogether, making silos for all the souls around me a month ago. And now, it's all so new. everything has changed. Altogether a fine start to a different lifestyle and the best part is enjoying every part of it. But none of these are of such significance as the initial paragraph mentioned.

I was climbing down when I realised the importance of fear. That sound of fire alarm had already made an impact and I was left questioning myself the importance of a thing which I would like to save when my house is on fire. I wasn't worried about myself but some other thing. I was afraid and I could just breath once I saw it safe.

We rushed back to our open area just to find that it was a simple drill. The minute drill had already created an havoc among all and it was an early unofficial lunch. Things were settled elsewhere, but, my heart could still feel the havoc which the fire alarm had created.....

The Absentee Human

They were 45 and there he was coming up with more than what was to be shared, making it a fun to be at. Me on the other hand, passing with just the physical presence and absent mentally to the fullest. A regular scene in the studious tide which fills the mid weekend of our lives.

It was no different today with just an hour to go. The same routine as mentioned above and none to be bothered otherwise. Something happened, and he banged his hand by mistake in order to find himself holding his palm with pain. The entire surroundings changed and 'ooh-aah' worries took the environment replacing the terms of computer architecture.

People literally loved him and the show of worry was natural. But to my surprise, there was no call for help or support from the 45. Only one absent minded guy asked for a break so that the hurt can be attended and mended. The reply received was unusual and it was believed that it was selfish of the absent-minded chap but he soon understood that the guy meant otherwise and the concern was for real.

The guy gave it a thought and concluded that he still continues to be a human being even though he is surrounded by machines. He was done with the incident only after jotting it down for his own future reference to remind him the fact that nomatter what happens, he can continue to be a human as long as he wants to be one.........

The One that matters

We fumble while we talk, we fall while facing a challenge, we get hiccups in one way or the other when walking through this unending path of life. It is then that we realize that we are not surrounded by people but souls who are quite busy to stand by ourselves. Often left vacant of support, we all tend to break down and life starts falling apart. In loneliness, we get lost and the eagerness to continue comes to a halt. But in this long path of isolation and thorns, we encounter some beings which are pretty different if not unique on every sense of a relation. Running around calling friends is often a symptom of human beings but some come around with a significant touch that you forget the pain which bothers you to death at times.

It wouldn't be appropriate to say that I have found some over the course of 22 years but I couldn't find one where I could stand equally for them as they do for me. It is awkward to mention about such companions where 21st century craves for love and none can have more importance than the same. With the ultimatum suggesting that the writer himself have messed the same in the past even though he mentioned that he found a friend who mattered a lot. He was desperate not to repeat the same mistake with the other half promising to keep away from trusting another soul.

4th of Feb, alarmed both that they have found someone whom they can rely on, they can put there faith and go wild in happiness. With time passing like a tornado, things demolished bringing them even closer than ever. Birthday of one signified the importance of one yet something remained. The later's date of arrival made it certain that the later cannot be content with a lesser level of celebration and each can fulfill the happiest of moments as they did in sorrow.

Two friends, walking in different paths were united and started following the same path which lead to different destinations but they ended up being there for each other when they had none.

Yes, I still say that it is love which has the final say but love is not about being in a relationship as people generally follow in this decade. Rather it is more about being there always for them who are important, being there for the person who is special, being there for them who matter................

- Dedicated to you, Simmi

Sands of Time

A year ago, I was there, with her, celebrating, surprising her in the best possible manner, making the most out of the special occasion. Yes, I was there, with her. Life calls for support and we tend to find it in someone not related by blood, for a lifetime. I have one but this is not for her because the person who matters most is not her but the one who continues to be my charming best friend for life.

Coming back to this day, a year ago, I was making cake, planning surprises in a certain way to see her happy and as all the tale goes, I was successful. Life never cease to amaze us and in the long turn of events I find myself a couple of thousand kilometers away from her a year after. I called her up in the morning to wish her just to find that I wasn't wishing but reminding her that this was the date when she was born. She trembled yet happily accepted it and made me realise that my absence has made it an uncanny event with the least significance.

Conscience sparked and I was taken aback by the conversation with just a simple thought that the art of livelihood is a typical mystery and requires a higher level of understanding to make it through till the end with distinction. A few could make it but the lot has a story to tell which is far from rosy.

I am away and that's the reality. When it's time to look for a hand, I still look upto her over my cell. But it is so much more than mental support that she requires, with the most important stick to hold sits so far. If health is an issue, then my absence is the catalyst to worsen it now. It was a mere occasion, her birthday which brought so many thoughts forward. Life has so much to tell and how we continue to find ourselves helpless when the time asks for us to act. The tale ends with,"Life goes on", putting forward a complicated question,"Does it flow that easily like sand, Time?". The crowd continues to ask and I like a poor son fails to stand beside her when she needs me the most........
