They met years back. It wasn’t planned, just one of those moments when lives collide, and you don’t realize the impact until much later. Back then, he didn’t understand her—not really. He thought he did, but looking back, he knows he was just too naive to see it.
Years passed, and they took different paths, each moving on—or at least trying to. Then fate decided to let them cross paths again in the city of dreams—Mumbai, nonetheless! The spark was still there, no longer hidden beneath the debris of time. They fell into place, like puzzle pieces that were never truly separated. But this time, the reality was harsher. Her marriage was fixed, and he was left with the cruel irony of realizing that she was always the one for him.
They now spend their days together, riding through the city, sharing stories, and creating memories, as if clinging to the present can defer the inevitable. They’ve confessed to loving each other despite everything. He doesn’t push—she doesn’t pull away. They exist in that fragile space between love and loss, knowing it’s fleeting but too desperate to let go just yet.
She doesn't open up much, which occasionally bothers him. Even today he wishes that she would be open up more, just as he had wished for her to be all those years ago. After all, he knows she’s the one. The only one. He lied about not remembering their last call all those years back. Said he was drunk. The truth is, he wasn’t. He remembers every second. He just wasn’t sure of his own feelings back then, and a lot was happening around him, leading him to believe that it was just something fleeting. Immature, yes, but not reckless. He knows it now. He never chose someone else over her; they simply drifted apart, despite being blamed otherwise. And that’s the regret that gnaws at him the most—that he made the mistake!
He tells her now how he feels—unfiltered, unguarded—because time taught him that holding back only leads to heartache. She listens, her eyes betraying the storm she holds within. He knows her too well now, knows that even if she doesn’t say it, she feels it just as deeply.
And he, knowing how helpless he is in this situation, just wants her to break free from all the shackles and be his, because he knows she can. If it were in his hands, he would fight the whole world for her.
